Conifer helps regulated professional services firms send, receive, manage and evidence client referrals. We replace informal, relationship-led introductions with a reviewed network and a structured referral process, so firms can introduce clients with confidence and show the reasoning behind every choice.

We were built by people who have worked inside these firms, across wealth management, financial advice, law, property, sales, finance and technology. We understand the compliance pressures, the time constraints and the reputational stakes, because we have lived them.

Why we exist

Referrals matter too much to leave to memory.

Referrals are one of the most valuable channels in professional services, yet the process is still largely run on memory, personal networks and email. When a client needs expertise beyond a firm's own, finding the right professional too often relies on guesswork, and the reasoning behind the introduction is rarely recorded.

Conifer exists to professionalise that moment: to give firms a broader view of suitable professionals, a clear rationale for the recommendation, and a tracked record of what happened next.

Founding team

Alex MacEwen

Founder & Director, Wealth Management

Alex spent over 20 years in financial services, including 13 years at BlackRock, and founded The Wealth Consultant in 2019. His practitioner-level understanding of advisers' capabilities, track records and client fit underpins the credibility of Conifer's matching.

Simon Landale

Founder & Director, Financial Advice

Simon brings over 20 years in financial services, with deep expertise in advice, regulation and client outcomes. He founded his own advisory firm in 2022 on a client-first ethos and understands the compliance pressures advisers carry.

Sarah Parsons

Founder & Director, Property

Sarah is a chartered surveyor with 15 years in UK property and estates at Strutt & Parker, and has held a directorship in a financial advice firm since 2023. Her credibility with high-net-worth clients and advisers, and her grounding in property and estates, bring real-world authority to the network.

Chris Porter

Founder & Adviser, Technology

Chris has over 20 years building complex systems at PwC, IBM and Oracle, and founded 6point6, later acquired by Accenture. He provides strategic oversight of Conifer's architecture and platform delivery.

Sam Buchanan

Chief Executive Officer

Sam brings hands-on platform and startup execution, alongside a training in investment management and financial services. He understands client service, the trials and tribulations of winning business, and the relationship network that connects professional services firms.

Mickey Wallis

Head of Sales

Mickey leads how Conifer works with the firms joining its network. He brings over a decade of B2B sales experience, taking early-stage solutions to market and building scalable processes from the ground up, with particular depth selling complex technology into regulated professional environments.

Will Taborn

Adviser, Law

Will brings over 30 years of senior legal experience and is the founder of Taborns and Mitre Law. His expertise in legal services, governance and professional standards underpins Conifer's compliance-first approach and the standards expected across the network.

Will Mundow

Fractional CFO

Will is an experienced finance leader and founding partner of Londway, which supports growing companies across the UK and Ireland. He has held Finance Director and CFO-level roles, including at MSL through its acquisition by Publicis Groupe, and brings rigour to Conifer's financial management and the integrity of its commercial model.

Professional referrals sit in a regulated environment. Conifer is designed to help firms make and evidence better introductions; it does not replace their judgement or their obligations.

Each referral can carry the client need, the rationale, consent, fee disclosure and the eventual outcome on a single record, giving firms a clearer, more defensible account of how a decision was made. Each firm remains responsible for meeting its own regulatory requirements.

There is no pay-to-rank. Placement on Conifer cannot be bought, and matches are ranked on client fit rather than commercial influence.
